I've done the thing. I've moved to @vamp (cybre.space).
Okay, well. I might think on it while houseworking, and then maybe fire up a computer to enact the migration of my follow list...
I dunno. *tears hair out* Shifting instance is a big decision! What if I regret it? #anxiety
As mastodon.cloud gets older and bigger, the local and federated timelines are getting busier and more diverse and sometimes unreadable. Starting to see the point of smaller instances. I've got an alt @vamp, but I'm not sure I'm ready to make the leap. Thinking a general purpose instance is better than waiting for something with a specific focus because I have many interests but can't be arsed with maintaining multiple alts...

OMG, I think I'm done. *falls over*
So I've been going back through my writing folder and exporting every scrivener project from the last 8 years because the Linux version is no longer in development and it don't work post Ubuntu 16.04.
PROPRIETARY FORMATS ARE BAD, M'KAY?
There's so many projects *falls over*
The one subculture/community I haven't seen much on Mastodon is #fandom. I know ppl from fandom on here, but there hasn't been a significant enough presence that I could find "my people".
Mastodon would be a great home for fandom. You can have per-fandom instances, or have a fandom-specific instance (preferred). There's built-in functionality for spoilers and cw's & ability to set per-instance rules for interaction. The segmentation of identity would be useful as well.
Somebody do the thing!
Dug the kumara. Had hoped for a little more out of the space, if it doesn't rain overnight I'll go out and dig it over again tomorrow because I'm sure to have missed some. A couple of the bigger ones might have been a little old. The skin is real dark and they've been drilled by some hungry critter. Odd. I didn't think kumara had many pests. Planted end of October, so they've only been in the ground the requisite 5 months. Too much wet, perhaps? (kumara = kiwi for sweet potato) #gardening
This means it's almost Easter. :jack_o_lantern:
Visitors gone. Vaping on the couch now. Will soon retreat to the garden to play in the dirt and de-people as much as I can. People-ing is hard.
Stuck on the couch and bored out of my tiny little brain. Move occasionally to the doorway so I can vape, just to break the monotony. There is no conversation. Visitors complain constantly or scroll through Facebook. WHY
Bugger it. I'm going outside. They can find me in the garden up to my elbows in dirt.
And i've decided to embrace the mess, visitors be damned. Feeling quite emotionally healthy, today, in fact. Spending the day on the couch 'entertaining' won't help, of course. I'd really rather be digging kumara and sowing seeds :/
I've been outside for the first time in three days \o/ just in time to get the backlog of laundry dry before the next cyclone hits the country. Hopefully.
Hello Tuesday morning. Visitors coming today and Ive just taken my two-days-off-a-month so the house is a bomb. And I'm still in bed. This is called being avoidy.
What the actual fuck with the weather. A tasman tempest, then Debbie, now Cook is on it's way? I'm so over it, and my house hasn't even been washed away by floodwaters... *stocks up on candles and shit*
Ideally, I'd like a mini-PC? Is that the generally accepted term? The tiny box. I'd like one of those. But I've looked into it and a smart TV would be cheaper, of course. It's all just a PitA and so until a decision is made, my laptop is the brains of the TV and I can't be arsed unhooking everything so I can use it for other shit.
Problem is, my laptop is now the brains of the TV. Okay, so that's pretty much all I used it for anyway lately, but having it connected to the TV (no casty-whatsits) makes me less than inclined to occasionally make a gif or edit some photos or whatever. We've looked at getting a smart TV, but, ehh. I don't like them. They seem clunky AF.
