I'm based here now:
What does "B.F." in music notation mean? What are people supposed to sing here?
I'm switching to another instance. You can follow me here:
Best CV ever : "A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Hey, DIY folks!
If you're doing your own zine or comic or other publication and want to know how to do a "perfect bind" (not the stapler kind), check this out
This method is good if you have more than 20 sheets (40 pages) and stapling isn't practical
Best of all, there's no music, chatting or other nonsense. Just gets down to business. You can infer what's needed from just watching the video
Mr. Phan Shook My Hand.
There's a neighbour - I think he's Vietnamese, who's built a small Buddhist temple or shrine in his back yard. I often see him tending it, as well as the few beautiful plants and flowers he has in his front garden.
He's always appears to be happy, and always says hello. He must be about 75 years old now, and has a cane and a small goatee - quite dapper.
I bumped into him in the stairwell just now and we shook hands.
That's never happened before.
"Consider a text message in which you are deciding where to meet for dinner with a friend. As you go back and forth in that stream of abbreviated communication, you suggest, “let’s eat Italian,” to which your friend responds “fine.” The one-word text sends you into a state of alarm. Did they mean “fine” as in “great,” or “fine” as in “fine, you win, we can eat where you’d like”? Somewhere in this chain of communication trust has been lost."
please remember to design for non-tech people. If your non-techy relative can't figure out how to use your thing, your thing will never get enough traction to actually change something, and it will always be the same 10 people joining every platform.
Really excited that this Philip K Dick series is starting on UK Channel 4 next month:
"Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams is a sci-fi anthology series of ten epic, ambitious and moving standalone episodes, each set in a different and unique world – some which lie in the far reaches of the universe and time and others which are much, much closer to home...."
@RussSharek Hi Russ. Just a quick line to say how much I enjoyed your Q&A article i the magazine. :)
Friday September 1st, our weekly IP Communications Conference will have as guest Eugen Rochko, aka @Gargron to talk about nothing but Mastodon! This week I will be "spamming" the instances I am on with the announcement because we want you to talk to us on IRC, on Mastodon or on your phone. Developers can join the live video panel, too. Stay tuned for the links on how to join the session.
