Many paywalled academic papers are available for free elsewhere (legally!). The Unpaywall browser extension helps to find them: http://unpaywall.org
FAQ: http://unpaywall.org/faq (explains e. g. the difference between Unpaywall and Sci-Hub)
I really like it so far! #openaccess
@arinbasu Apparently, booksc is more like sci-hub (illegal in most jurisdictions)? Unpaywall finds papers that, in most cases, were uploaded by the authors themselves (which means that accessing them should be legal).
@stefanieschulte Yes true. Unpaywall is safer, and the model seems viable too.
@stefanieschulte OpenAccess Button is great also! https://openaccessbutton.org/
@stefanieschulte (I use both -- for some reason Unpaywall hasn't been working on some of my browsers, haven't figured out which extension is clashing with it yet.)
@stefanieschulte
This is a great find. I also know that booksc.org (http://booksc.org) a useful site to find articles for free.
