To be clear, in order to make a client-side app that can connect to an arbitrary Mastodon instance, the app itself would have to register as a client w.r.t. ? So each user of my app would be registered as a separate client as far as OAuth is concerned?

I'm not saying that's bad, I'm just making sure that's the way people are doing it.

@JoeDotDeveloper No. Your app would be registered as a client only once to each instance. Each user would then individually authorize your app on the instance you are using. @crscheid

@speakittome @crscheid My app is client-side, not a web app, and I don't have any plans to host a server to share the OAuth client IDs among my users. So I'm not sure how it's possible that I only register once.
