How does Mute work?

If I block someone, I can see them under Blocked Users and unblock them if I want. (I assume, haven't actually done that.)

But if I mute someone, is that on a timer? I don't see where I would unmute them.

and in other news, my current solution for tooting is sshing into my server and attaching to a tmux session to toot. Its ideal in literally 0 ways.
