mastodon is twitter if twitter was just people talking about installing their own twitter instance

Back when I was active on Usenet it was considered pretty normal to have house rules for any newsgroup, you were also expected to refrain from posting long enough to notice and learn the unspoken customs (this was called "lurking").

Nowadays people see it as an orchestrated attack against free speech, shout references to 1984, and threaten to move elsewhere.

Yet the ones asking us all to behave politely are called "hypersensitive"?

@quad GOD yes. JavaScript is not a server-side language. I would rather use PHP than JavaScript on my server.

@quad I wish American universities would hurry up and join them. My school still does Java.

@GinnyMcQueen@mastodon.social Twine is fantastic stuff.

is it true that mastodon is actually a psyop created by hover and namecheap to spur people into paying crazy prices for hip domain names such as "balls.hypno.gongle.sigil", "godzone.fuck" and "will.i.am.shitner"

If you add courage to anything bad you can make it so people think it's a good thing.

@chris They're a bare-metal VPS though. I like Azure's extensive library of PaaS and SaaS options. Scaleway does look like a good option for pure IaaS workloads though, I'll keep them in mind next time I need a VM.
