@amphetamine@social.wxcafe.net @chosafine@instance.business Could do without Florida too. Wonder if we can trade Florida for something better... like Vancouver.

I saw a segment about the Hawaii thing on Adam Ruins Everything last year. Was the first time I really had a good explanation of what happened there.

@amphetamine@social.wxcafe.net @chosafine@instance.business I'm not saying I think it would work, logistically. I'm just saying I wouldn't mind losing them. California could fall into the ocean too, that'd be okay.

@chosafine@instance.business I've been to almost every state, and Californians are really the only standout weirdos. I think they should secede just because they don't fit in with the rest of us. :P

@chosafine@instance.business To be fair, this is the first time we've had this issue in nearly 200 episodes.

Meanwhile, who lost their half of our podcast's audio once? :P

computer New Years resolutions

@chosafine@instance.business But why! The hello world for an Electron app is only like 300 MB of RAM.

computer New Years resolutions

@chosafine@instance.business What'd Discord do to you? If you pick something with a Windows client I'll be happy, but curious anyways.

@c1t7@vcity.network Oh. I don't do anything special security-wise with Mumble. It's open source, you can run your own, but I subscribe to someone hosting it, and they give me a username and password to log into it with.

I know you can get all spiffy about certs with Mumble, but the client install can automatically set you up and I let it do that. :/

"net neutrality"

@iliana@witches.town "Literally none of this matters" basically sums up the entirety of this whole political charade.

pol

@chosafine@instance.business The reality is we already have a framework: It's called the Sherman Antitrust Act. Title II actually exempts telecoms from antitrust regulation by the FTC!

We need to grant the FTC the power to fine companies which do anticompetitive things, whether they be Comcast... or Google.

And that's why Google's pushing net neutrality so hard: It tries to special-case ISPs for a special form of antitrust regulation that doesn't affect them too.
