Pinned toot

@Gargron

To my followers/readers:
Let's try and throw some support here today as many new users are here.

According to The Hill, Roger Stone is trying to disqualify Judge Amy Berman Jackson, the judge who sentenced him. His lawyers are trying to get a new trial - they are using Trump’s claim that one juror was biased. Can you believe this blatant corruption?

Trump's claim that Bolton can publish his book when he leaves the White House doesn't support his claim that Bolton's conversations and contacts with him rise to the level of being classified.

Put even more clearly: if the material becomes fit to publish once Trump leaves office, by definition it's not classified. Classifications survive presidential turnover. It's obvious, therefore, that the restriction until Trump leaves office is purely political.

That's a great resource. Thank you.

I use it to track things like local election law in the states. Lots of good things on it.

@IronMan There is a good resource for tracking the consistent circumvention of Senate confirmation - as well as the attrition of administration officials, where they came from and where they went after - I haven't looked at it in awhile, but it is regularly updated and worth a bookmark: brookings.edu/research/trackin

First, we have to continue to agree to support the eventual Democratic nominee and work with others to elect the next Democratic President.

The key concept here is that Mick Mulvaney admits that the GOP actively sabotages the economy when Democrats are in power to make themselves look better.

Tell your friends and fellow voters the truth about the Republican economy. Sharing information with people off social media is key to making change.

If you copy the link to the toot—not the text, but the link—and then paste that link into a new toot, this toot you’re reading right now is how it will look. It’s not as quick and simple as a QT button, but it works pretty well. 🙂

All Americans should be terrified at Trump's efforts to purge our government of any employees who have a whiff of integrity and replace them with loyalists, experience not required.

Trump is deliberately avoiding Senate confirmation by filling the administration with "acting" officials. These are dangerous times that will only get worse if we don't act accordingly in working to remove Republicans from office.

Dear people who are voting in Democratic primaries for the first time,

The Democratic Party has had liberals in it for a long time, so showing up and immediately demanding that non-moderates drop out is like moving into a house where people already live and trying to replace all the furniture and decor on the first day. Try getting to know us a little bit and compromising. Maybe we can pair your armchair with our couch, and we could go in together on a rug and a coffee table.

@IronMan There must be massive turnout in both the Primaries and the Nov election. The GOP and Trump will cheat so we have to make sure they cannot win. TurnOut up and down the ballot

Seeing real life super villain Roger Stone smiling as he leaves the courtroom is disheartening. He knows Trump will pardon him before he has to serve even one minute in prison. He wouldn't be smiling if his orange crooked friend wasn't president. Lets make sure by this time next year, these types of travesties of Justice don't happen anymore.

Additional post-debate thought after getting off that birdsite for a while.

This is the DEMOCRATIC primary.  It's not the general.

The idea of asking Democrats to appeal to Republicans during the primary is ludicrous.

After tooting through most of the debate last night with my friends @IronMan @natashar @SteveRogers @Katniss @AgentCarter_SSR @StephenStrange and more, I fell asleep before the end. Sometime during the night I heard Warren calling out Bloomberg, and realized it was the replay on MSNBC and I wasn't dreaming calling out corruption from the presidential bully platform for the next four years. But let's make it so. 98% of the Democratic delegates are still there for the deciding.

I found another feature that Mastodon does better than the bird site. I made a mistake in a toot as I am wont to do, and I had the option of "delete and redraft." I've always been against an edit button on the bird site because bad actors will get likes and RTs and then edit to make it look like people agree with other than what the current post says, but keeping exact words is great. On mobile, copying and pasting doesn't always work.

@OfdonaldJ
Thanks.

A quick ride down my birdsite timeline shows what I often get back.

I don't mind the MAGAts. I do mind so-called Resistance accounts discouraging anything from calls to voting pleas to positive comments about any candidate or subject at all.

3 years plus is exhausting.

@IronMan @natashar @AgentHill

Nope. We have to believe it can be better. And be prepared for slogging through the predictable shit to make it better.

I know I'm wearing my positive pants right now, and I today has been hard & tomorrow will be hard, but it *will* be better. We have too much to lose to start with losing heart.

JFC, how the F do you post a f'ing gif on this thing? Come ON, life!

@AgentHill
Socialism isn't Communism.

Democratic Socialism definitely isn't.

@IronMan Bernie is not in my top three choices of people on the stage, but he's not a communist. Putting in the mind of Americans that any Democratic candidates are communists is a great way to not turn out our voters. Don't do that.

I’m not in the habit of posting Stereogum links anywhere, but seeing as how this is a meme set to music, it feels appropriate enough. I present, for your consideration, Elizabeth Warren ethering Michael Bloomberg at the debate last night.
