The bit about 'not whinging' as a working class trait obscures how completely this approach conforms to neoliberalised norms of self-improvement and self-management. Don't whinge, even though you're giving up two weeks of your holiday to put on a show for no pay, because it's an investment in your reputation/human capital. I feel like this is precisely what artists should be working against.
