Life in the woods: collecting hazelnuts.

This is just one tree (with many still on there), a dozen more to go :)

Things I learned today about hazelnuts trees (we have many of them):

Not all trees have nuts on them.

Some trees make rounded shape nuts, which are usually grouped by 3.

Some trees make oval shaped nuts which aren’t grouped at all with others.

Nuts that fall on grass are usually left intact, those on moss or closer to the tree are eaten by very tiny worms.

It’s quite fun to live in the forest.

As I was spending over an hour bending to collect nuts my wife showed up and started shaking a branch. Turns out it’s the easiest way to collect them. What would I do without her?
