it is pretty exciting to be part of something new and fresh, and this feeling reminds me of old, old days when some friends made an ezBoard and a whole bunch of people went on there to screw about.
none of these places ever had more than 20 people but it felt more personal to interact with everyone.
or coming back to the same IRC channel year after year until the servers went down.
the feeling of potential community, not of a social behemoth, a mass of human minds one can never comprehend.

@eviltofu sort of, you didn't need a server, they provided them, you just signed up for a name and went ahead and made a community bbs. you could make either a local account or a global account too back then.
@krzyzis I was talking about the BBS where you actually had to connect via a modem. :P
