Linux Mint 19 was released yesterday. I backed up my home dir on Linux Mint 18.3 and did a fresh “Cinnamon” install on a Thinkpad X220.

No problems so far and overall feels a very slick desktop Linux distribution even on a bit outdated hardware.

“They trust me - dumb f*cks”

I have now enabled in the https://searx.prvcy.eu server also the morty proxy that routes the traffic via prvcy.eu server. Each result have the info where it's been fetched and then you can click the "proxied" link and you will go to the result via prvcy.eu server. It doesn't work with every page, but quite many I think.

#Google is trying to eat the web, one service at a time. Now they are even eating external news websites with #AMP.

This is a really disturbing development. Please resist, don't visit AMP pages if you can avoid it.

When you write a direct toot (DT?) to a recipient who is on an different instance, is it guaranteed to delivered or could the delivery be blocked “on the wires”?

When closing the darkest times of the year in , the best part is that you are almost obliged to wear wool socks.

Huh...raking leaves in the backyard is sweaty work for a nerd 🤓 But it was fun while at the same time listening to the latest episode (#535) of "Paul's Security Weekly" podcast wiki.securityweekly.com/Show_N

Good stuff about crypto in general (algorithms, implementation horros, quantum resistance and so forth) and AD and Kerberos attacks etc.

Just watched the documentary "Nothing to hide" and it was a one mind-boggling piece. Strongly recommended to everyone interested in and

Makes you really think of what kind of a society you would like to live in.

I bought a bottle of “Napue Gin” a while ago and oh boy, there’s a gin worthy of it’s name.

Using this recipe kyrodistillery.com/recipes/nap I prepared myself a Gin Tonic yesterday and it was so delicious. Goes straight to the top of GT recipes alongside with Hendricks&cucumber combo. Highly recommended!

Ahhh, the week of “t2’17 infosec conference” is about to start! The event itself takes place on 26th-27th Oct at Radisson Blue Seaside hotel in .

Schedule (t2.fi/schedule/2017/) looks interesting and high quality which is pretty much standard for this con.

For me it is 7th time participating this annual event and it’s just great to get to see the presentations, meet good people and to network (eq. beer :))

Are there other mastodonians(?) participating?

Decrypting Amber Rudd

Facebook, Microsoft, Twitter & YouTube (Google/Alphabet, Inc) have formed the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism and Amber Rudd is asking them to quietly drop end-to-end encryption from their products. You should not believe a single word any of those companies tells you about end-to-end encryption or privacy on their platforms ever again. PS. WhatsApp is owned by Facebook.

Now I'm on a second week of drinking my coffees completely without sugar and there's no turning back! This should have some positive health effects and even the coffee tastes so much better now. 2/2

I'm a heavy coffee drinker as majority of Finns are. There are statistics which say that Finland is on top of coffee consumption per capita in the world (worldatlas.com/articles/top-10).

I've been drinking coffee over 30 years and always with sugar. And since I drink around 1.25-1.75 liters per day on average, that equals 50-70 grams of added sugar a day and 1.5-2.1 kilos sugar per month! 1/2

Instead of testing solo challenge, I ended up playing online 🤓

I'm such a fishy player but it was great fun. Managed to get myself to level 2 without too much tilting 😜

Thanks for your great games!

Hello Mastodon. Long time, no toots. I could try to be more active here and maybe share my experiences with solo challenge later today.

But since it's still quite early Sunday morning, I seriously need coffee ☕️☕️☕️
