Linux folks: “my engine is better than that car. Why isn’t everyone driving my engine?”

Because we drive cars, not engines.

How's it going in fediverse? I've been quiet way too long in Mastodon for no particular reason and I thought that I should try to "re-activate" myself here again :)

Here’s the video of my talk “Beyond surveillance capitalism: alternatives, stopgaps, Small Web, and Site.js.” from Creative Mornings Istanbul on Friday.

Edited to fix the audio sync issue, add captions, chapters, and links to all the mentioned tools, etc.

Enjoy + please share! :)

Not sure what happened to the site but apparently is the site nowadays...

I had a great dialogue with the salesman at the local grocery store:
SM: “You have a nice text on your cap, hits the nail to the head.”
ME: “Thanks, you are the first one who notices it”
SM: “Yeah, yeah...good text!”

I was wearing’s “Make 1984 fiction again” cap.

@beerw0lf I’ve never tried “Link’s Awakening” on Gameboy so remake is my first experience with the title.

But yes “Link to the Past” from the Snes online catalog. It’s probably my all time favorite game on any platform and a game to take to the desert island. Haven’t yet tried how it plays and feels with pro’s D-Pad.

Actually found this official Nintendo merch from local Prisma yesterday and couldn’t walk by 🤓

And the controller works like a charm too. Price tag is high, but you get a rock solid controller, which “sits” well to your hand and offers very good playability.

Now off to play some more... 2/2

I couldn’t resist today and went ahead to buy “The Legend of Zelda: Link’s awakening” with Nintendo’s Pro Controller.

Oh well, “Links’s Awakening” is just remarkable, eye candy Zelda game which is so fun to play especially for a guy like me, who likes so much of these “old skool”, traditional Zeldas. 1/2

I’m probably latest of the late bloomers when it comes to “Stranger Things”. I didn’t get excited enough when it came out years ago, but now I have given it a second chance. And’s good sci-fi/mystery/super natural entertainment.

I’ve now watched 5 episodes of season 1, while commuting to the office. Luckily tomorrow is Monday and can’t wait to hop on into a commuter train in the morning.

Reposting my tweet earlier this week, which I forgot to share in Mastodon so here comes.

If you are at all interested in how badly broken this “digital universe” we currently live in is, you should watch this presentation and think through your approach of what kind of future for humanity you want.

With great minds like @laura and @aral, there is always hope.

I’ve been on summer vacation and since the weather is not that shabby in I’ve had some R&R with “The X-Files” season 1. It’s still amazingly good TV and stays easily on my top-3 list of all time greatest TV-series. Highly recommended 👍

Just started to upgrade Pop!_OS 18.10 to 19.04. Let’s see how it goes 🤞

Should bring kernel 5.0 and lots of other cool stuff to the desktop.

@JPEG thanks for keeping Mast updates flowing 🙏

I’ve a list created with few Mastodon users added. When I click the “three lines” icon on the top left corner in the timeline screen, the app just keeps crashing instantly. Is this something you’ve already heard of?

It would be interesting to read similar research regarding iOS apps.
