NICE. Launch day going smooth so far at Vivaldi! We released version 1.9 today, adding Ecosia as a default search engine option.
Ecosia uses 80% of its ad revenue to fund tree-planting projects around the world (apparently planting 7M+ already!).
Quite cool to give our users a #green friendly option. 😀
@jonmccull I'm really pleased to have discovered Ecosia - I'm using it quite a lot now, although I still like DuckDuckGo as well.
I really like the fact that Ecosia donates its profits to tree planting, and that it's based in Europe.
It's great that you've included it in Vivaldi.
@dominicduffin1 yes! A new discovery for me too. I hadn't heard of it until they approached us about working together. Love it when that happens. :)
Personally, I'm pretty varied with search engines. I use the single-letter nickname in the address field constantly to use Google, Ecosia, DDG, Wikipedia, YouTube and (even) Bing.
@jonmccull I'm also fairly varied in the search engines I use - I now use both DDG and Ecosia regularly, and I still use Google occasionally when I want something it does better. I occasionally use Bing on my WP because its automatic if I use the search button - which I do occasionally particularly if the internet is not good. I have also used Qwant - they have quite a nice news search feature. Sometimes its also fun to compare different search engines with the same search!
