Dear free and open source community,

I want you to recommend projects that welcome people that never contributed to FOSS before. I am planning to do a workshop this year to encourage people to make their first contributions. What I need:

- A page explaining how they could contribute.
- General recommendations and documentation.
- Where they can contact people involved in such projects in case they have questions.

KDE Connect, a project to communicate across all your devices on Linux desktop, gets Bluetooth support!

For example, with KDE Connect you can receive your phone notifications on your desktop computer, control music playing on your desktop from your phone, or use your phone as a remote control for your desktop.

So I thought my timeline just wasn't working right. It turns out quite a few of the people I follow essentially disappeared from . Maybe the initial novelty wore off for them. on the other hand got a bit of a boost from the whole thing. I like both for different reasons...I do need to post more often though.

: For anyone into or , do you prefer pieces (45+ minutes) or albums of shorter tracks? (Trying to decide what direction to take the next album for my project of 18 years.)

Do yourself a favor today: decide that just once today, you will go out of your way a little bit to make a positive difference in someone else's life.

It can be a smile, talking just a little bit longer, or a genuine compliment. Nothing huge. Both of you will be glad you did.

Have a great day everyone!

Really liking what I'm seeing with 18.04 Beta 2. I tried the minimal install option on an old 32bit laptop. With the exception of some lag in Discover, the performance is pretty good. I'm looking forward to this running this on my newer systems. LTS Plasma + LTS Qt + LTS Ubuntu = ❤️

I'm looking to put together a local program for (primarily) non-technical people. Things like teaching people how to use software at educational events, having installation parties, accepting old hardware to repurpose and donate, etc. Does anyone with experience doing such things have any advice on getting started?

Switching my wife's computer over to KDE Neon today. She had been having problems with her Manjaro Mate installaton. (Not saying it's the distro's fault; could be her hardware not playing nicely.)

Now that I'm in Land, I gotta admit the upcoming 18.04 has a certain level of attractiveness with the LTS triumvirate of , and . I certainly have some use cases for that type of stability anyway.
