The downside of #MultilingualDH is that ABBYY FineReader always suggests the last language you used for your new #OCR project, and almost every time, it is wrong.

@simon @willseth true, but worth it, since the alternative is yanking them all off the wall in the middle of the night.

@simon nest protect is the only one I’ve ever used that fits those criteria.

Every year, Nova Scotia provides Boston with its official yuletide tree as a thank you for the city's response to the 1917 #HalifaxExplosion

An estimated 2,000 people died and 9,000 more were injured.

Aid from #Boston was the 1st to arrive, and the response has not been forgotten.

The #TreeForBoston will leave Halifax on Nov. 21st for its 1,100-kilometre journey to Massachusetts. A tree-lighting ceremony will take place at the Boston Common on Dec. 1st.

Elon Musk just banned the culture jamming anarchist publication CrimethInc. from Twitter after a request from Andy Ngo, the fascist activist who's beloved by multiple mass shooters.

CrimethInc. has had a Twitter account since 2008, has never violated Twitter policies, and has never been suspended until now.

#BetterBoston folks, be sure to take note of this important announcement:

Planned Service Outage tonight, starting at 11:45 PM on 11/20/2022

Better.Boston will be offline for 15-60 minutes to move our database to a server that can handle long-term growth of our community.

We expect that this will be the only outage we will need for months - all other server upgrades that are planned can happen behind the scenes, with no downtime needed.

Please Boost for visibility, thanks!

@bikepedantic this could be generalized to any platform (eventually), absent proper . 🤞for the

I don’t understand why people think Mastodon is difficult. It seems pretty straightforward, and the separate servers are no biggie. I’m enjoying this fresh start here, like moving to a new apartment!
