So, I see this hasn't changed much! I was hoping to see it take off a little more but I guess I'll need to give it some more time.
Getting more 500 errors. I really like the feel and idea of Mastodon but the reliability of the service (or this instance?) is off-putting to say the least.
Sharing media content feels the most flaky.
I struggle to commit to writing (diary, blog posts etc.). How do others get motivated?
Soon time to wrap up a fantastic weekend. Brilliant weather, first BBQ of the year, time with my beautiful family AND a new social network to play with.

Back when I was active on Usenet it was considered pretty normal to have house rules for any newsgroup, you were also expected to refrain from posting long enough to notice and learn the unspoken customs (this was called "lurking").
Nowadays people see it as an orchestrated attack against free speech, shout references to 1984, and threaten to move elsewhere.

Maybe it's a mastodon.cloud issue. Getting lots of 500 errors.
I'm finding performance really inconsistent. Not sure if that's an instance, app, connection or general platform issue. Refreshing feeds, uploading media, etc. all varies wildly.

I do like the old-school Twitter feel. Not sure if that's because I like nostalgia or because it was genuinely a better experience.

Hmm, looks like uploading pictures isn't working. Just tried five times to attach a photo to this toot and it failed every time.
So, what happens if an instance decides to shut down? Is my mastodon identity lost forever? I love the idea of this, but I'm guessing it isn't a charity. How are instances expected to make money to cover costs? (Unless I'm missing something? 🤔)
