Vision from last night: the next console generation, or the one after that, will be pure streaming devices, so basically a dumb terminal with an Ethernet connection. Games will run in the cloud, probably on Linux servers. The consoles themselves will have pi sized electronics also running Linux, and a literal brick because users expect a certain size and weight for the prize they're paying. On that note, don't expect the devices to get cheaper just because the production costs are a lot less.
