My gay 16-year-old daughter is snarky and tough and she won't take crap from homophobes or anyone else.

But when she throws up twice in one night, she still wants dad to take care of her.

And that's the weird thing about parenting, you'll do it no matter their age. I'd pat the kid's back or hold her hair when she's sick when she's 45.

@huff Props for being a great dad. My parents were supportive when I came out, but I've had other gay friends who have gotten thrown out on their asses.

@guretsugu Parents who don't accept their kids as they are disgust me on a visceral level. All I want is for my kids to be happy. My daughter came out to us at 14 and I was proud of her both for being frank with us and for understanding herself so well.

@huff I wish everyone saw it that way. The act of coming out is such a pivotal moment, and either empower or completely destroy a person. Keep doing awesome dad things!

@guretsugu @huff I was so lucky when I came out as Bi. My family's response was luckily something along the lines of "And?"
