I had no idea airlines were within their rights to forcibly remove someone from a plane if it is overbooked (see link below). Regardless, the video of that man getting dragged off the plane is pretty fucked up. When he refused, they should have just offered more money until someone said yes. I cannot imagine that would affect their bottom line in a real way.

@farrar They cannot remove somebody from a plane if they're overbooked. They can deny them the ability to board but once they've boarded (which that man obviously had done), they cannot remove him for overbooked reasons unless there simply is no seat for him to sit in.

They broke the law when they removed him & lawyers will get a big payday for him now with plenty of punitive damages.

@farrar Or MAYBE don't even make a deliberate business practice of selling people things you know you can't deliver, that would also be good.

@farrar the whole concept of overbooking stinks. It's like selling stuff you actually don't have hoping someone will cancel his order (and that person won't get full price back). 🤢
