Isn't it a really weird coincidence that in the early 2000s, the Bush regime started several DARPA/HSARPA projects to create a whole new genre of tools to handle a thing called 'big data', under the Total Information Awareness program

then TIA caused a fuss so it was shut down. Completely gone. None of it survived, anywhere.

But by a complete fluke chance, wouldn't you know it, private Silicon Valley tech companies immediately just accidentally started doing Big Data. Completely on their own.
