Managed to score a stack of type II cassette on eBay. All used but in pretty good shape. The previous owners obviously used them as write-only-memory. Recorded and never touched them again.
@satanskrapfen Yeah. Keep tape alive. Well, actually I have 2 decks in use. A Kenwood KX-3510 with automatic calibration and a rather exotic Technics RS-B49R without. But it can do the DBX noise reduction party trick. Trying to get as many different types of tape stock as possible. Maybe I can spot their signature characteristics somehow. Haven’t had any Sony UX-S yet.
@do5dos uh, nice catch, although a bit tricky to record unless you have a deck with bias calibration
my fave Type IIs are Maxell XLII and Sony UX-S so far :)
