I'm having trouble finding people I'm connected with that are apparently on other instances. Are there any global search options for finding accounts?

I'm messing about with podcasting. This is on the snap elections in the UK.

Welcome to mastodon. Here's your courses on French and Japanese, a "THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS" bumpersticker, and a fresh pineapple for some reason.

From the same speech:
"Banks with shareholder-friendly boards in general fared worse during the crisis."

This is the original paper Haldane cites:
"Why Did Some Banks Perform Better during the Credit Crisis? A Cross-Country Study of the Impact of Governance and Regulation"

I'm trying to better understand how works. Please help, if you can.
1. Do my searches only search my instance or all instances? Is there a way to differentiate a search between the two options?
2. I know that I can create accounts on multiple instances. Is there a benefit to this other than concerns about uptime/server retirement?
I have more Qs, but I'll try to go slow. :)

So I just typed a long "toot" (can I call them something else?) and I clicked on one in another timeline and it blew away the long, untooted toot, and now I am sad. Saving unsent toots somehow would be great.

I'm new here, so I guess I should start by posting something about my interests. I enjoy learning in general, and specifically about like and and trying to improve with ideas like . I do a fair amount of writing via my publishing company wickedproblemscollaborative.com
and I also help firms reduce their impacts as a facilitator via my sustainability firm lineartocircular.com. If any of those are of interest, let's chat

I published Part 2 of my book this week which looks at a number of the major factors that contributed to the result in the EU referendum. Please have a look.
