Are there any easy/free/cheap web statistics tracking options that I can use for my personal website that either don't require JS, or that at least respect users' privacy to a large degree? Feels like a tough tradeoff, but I'd like to at least know how people are getting to my site, and which pages they're visiting. #javascript #privacy #web #webdev
@Secstodon That's actually a very decent idea, but I was hoping to use a managed static host (e.g. Netlify) to reduce the amount of software and services I'm responsible for maintaining.
@codydh Piwik is a FLOSS analytics solution, but if I remember correctly it relies on JS.
@Erwhann Piwik does look like a good solution; it would require running/maintaining a standalone server though, which is my main hesitation with that.
@codydh Well, as often with FLOSS you basically buy freedom with skill.
@Erwhann Yes of course. Maybe I should be looking for something hosted, or something like a preconfigured Piwik instance (Bitnami, or alternatives?).
@codydh Maybe this: https://hub.docker.com/_/piwik/ could ease your pain ? A docker image maintained by the Piwik team.
@codydh what about server logs?
