Ultimately Mastodon has the same issue as Ello... it lacks the mass of people that made the other site feel like home. Maybe over time. I like the raw material of this so far.
But I guess that is the challenge of anything coming after something else blew up. People use a thing because everyone else is using a thing. There is a gravity to it and it is hard to break the inertia.
