First couple of days on this new platform has been fairly chaotic. But I like how norms are being derived organically; whether it's pineapples :pineapple: or giving warnings on political posts, it looks like shared values are bubbling up. A culture is being formed. Of course it will change, and I think different norms will develop on different instances but the fun is seeing where it will go.
Not much politics on the elephant. My bird feed is Syria, Syria, Syria. Not so much here, but maybe I'm not looking in the right place?
technical note about this tech as I see some confusion/misconceptions:
Admins of your instance have complete control over your account. Really, we can read all the posts (including DMs) and we can even impersonate/hack your account with ease.
Make sure you trust your admins.
Here on toot.cat we have a CoC that applies to both admins and non admins. Admins are expected to abide by the CoC and not oppress users as well.
