first year teaching has been a shit-show. logged in to mastodon for the first time in a while yesterday and discovered that my main instance is gone. happy to have missed the drama. ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
My new favorite small contribution to improving life for those around me is to make silly faces at crying babies on the subway until they start giggling instead.

Seriously, though, "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind" is so fucking underrated and I DO NOT understand why.
IMPORTANT NOTICE Show more
I miss Prince. I'm also sad I never got to see him in concert.
they finally introduced Julia in Sesame Street. She's the 1st Muppet who ostensibly has autism. I saw a clip on birb site and it got me feeling some kind of way
Do not let orange man take this show away from the kids this shit is important.
I gotta say, I am impressed with how much high school/college French I've retained. not enough to hold my own in conversation, but enough to eavesdrop for sure.
@starhaze The real question is:
Is turning the frogs gay the ultimate goal of chemtrails?
Or is it just a side-effect?
I've seen a lot of Mastodon users making appeals for helpful features, but I haven't noticed anyone suggesting a need for a CNN bot. no. no, thank you.
*looks at twitter* oh good, i got followed by a tech exec and three more brands
*looks at mastodon* i got followed by 8 witches, 3 queer furries and 7 cybrepunks
I hesitate to start playing ACNL again because I know my town is trash rn. unless... I think I might have written down the last day I played because I was trying to get Gracie to make a store in my town or something, and you can't skip a day when you're trying to do that. if so, I could just start from there... that could be worth checking out.
what if, with all this free time since finishing grad school work, I start playing Animal Crossing for 3DS again? ๐ฑ
What if this place was just a platform for talking to people? What if we didn't compete for social space? What if there was actually respect for the ideas of others regardless of their social standing?
I see that possibility here. Please don't screw it up.
In my company's old office, we had a concrete floor on the lower level. Once, we had a halloween party and taped a pentagram to mark the dance floor (this is just like a Buffy episode isn't it?)
The next day after the party, we pulled up the tape but so much beer had been spilled that even after cleanup, the concrete held a darker colour where there wasn't tape, so the pentagram was still clearly visible.
For months.
And it was right under the spot where devops + security teams sat.
In my day one GeoCity was a nickel, and also Rutherford B. Hayes was your first friend on MySpace, not Tom
Mastodon feels like LiveJournal and Geocities and Neopets all rolled into one. What I mean to say is you make me feel *young*, Mastodon.
Also I am old. So very old
