Kaidan will receive a grant for end-to-end encryption #xmpp
another thing I don't *get* in Cyberpunk is why the fuck children straight up disappear when you enter photo mode
were the developers afraid that players would do violent/lewd things to them?
(as if there won't be mods for that )
as if the fact that they are not killable is not enough
non-killable children have become the standard for the industry, sadly
maybe i wouldn't mind this that much if not for overall pedohysteria nowadays, and the fact that sometimes nonexistent in-game kids are protected to the completely retarded point
like when Bethesda edited out children from Fallout 2 by making them invisible but just *forgot* to disable them completely I guess, resulting in invisible little bastards stealing quest-essential shit from you without any way to get it back
or like when they added children to This War of Mine which used to be a game about horrors of war, but with this DLC it became happy candyland where no child can be harmed and/or killed, how sickeningly diabetic sweet of them
a free tip from me, if you wanna know about kids during wartime, read The Last Witnesses by Svetlana Alexievich
i read it when i was five
the funniest thing was that i was hiding the fact that i was reading this book from my mom better than any future porn i would have
This talk is over again !! “lawful access to encrypted data”.
If I’m not expecting to have a Soviet mic 🎤forwarding all what I say to the Politburo, I’m not expecting neither to have any encrypted text read by someone else than the recipient.
Thanks @protonmail to raise the alarm 🚨
Is your open source project still using Slack for its community? Consider:
Mozilla has migrated their chat to Matrix: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Matrix
Mattermost now offers hosted service with special pricing for OSS projects: https://mattermost.com/nonprofit/
There are probably even more I'm not aware of.
There are good Free options now. Time to get out of the proprietary SaaS lock-in.
I've configured my mail client to only check mails once an hour... and I feel like that not only helps my productivity, but also makes me quite a bit more relaxed sitting in front of my desktop.
Now I wish I could configure other apps to also only spam me with notifications in certain intervals.
For example: don't alert me for every single Mastodon notification, give me a nicely formatted summary twice a day.
The main misconception about defaults is that many users don't change them, because they assume that the developers put thought into the defaults. But the developers don't put ideal defaults there, because they assume the user knows better what they need and change the defaults.
This leaves us with bad defaults that aren't changed. 🤷
"Moxie Marlinspike On Decentralization" by David Rosenthal https://blog.dshr.org/2020/09/moxie-marlinspike-on-decentralization.html
The talk and blog post are both very interesting. I think advocates of decentralization (including myself!) should take these arguments seriously.

Last year, millions of people fought back the European Union’s #Article17. The fight isn’t over - we're pushing the EU member states to limit the use of automated filtering and protect users right's as they implement the law nationally. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2020/09/eff-eu-commission-article-17-prioritize-users-rights-let-go-filters
