Too quickly the need arises for verified accounts, which I wonder is it even possible in this multi-server, multi-instance platform? Now that I think about it, could my same username be used by someone else in another instance?
@Tremendo yes, the same name can be used by another instance. There aren't really cross-instance rules because they can not be enforced and there is no central body to enforce them. This is by design.
And verified accounts are only useful in situations where you want something for advertising or similar uses which lead to badness.
@inmysocks My question about verified accounts was prompted by famous names (in the U.S. at least) being used which I will be pretty surprised if they turn out to be the "real" personalities they pretend to be.
@Tremendo You must think like the email system. userA@foo.bar isn't the same person as userA@truc.machin .
