Cut it with the " describes its origin" crap.

That's not how you phrase it in English. "Chinese" as an adjective means created by, or owned by, China or the Chinese people.

And that's *exactly* what the phrase is meant to imply: "it's the Chinese people's fault."

It would be less of an obvious political dog-whistle if it were phrased as something like "coronavirus that originated in China." But "Chinese Virus" is factually, scientifically, and linguistically wrong.
