While everybody try to find a way to filter out the languages they don't understand, I try my best to make friends with people I don't share language with.

@TheRealMe With a translation plugin in your browser and the translate bot here on Mastodon, nothing much else is really needed.

@kingu_platypus_gidora I have a translation plugin (and use it all the time) but the TL's go too fast. I would hope for either a translate button next to the ⭐ or a way to maybe auto-translate selected languages. And in the end, there is nothing wrong with having a lot of people (and bots) on mute. I just don't want to filter someone out because he or she happens to speak a language I can't read.

@TheRealMe True, The TL is very fast and I can only translate some of the toots (since most of them is in Japanese now).

When I asked the admin of Diaspora* for such a translation feature, they reply me that such a feature would end up being a way for either Google or Microsoft to index everything (including private messages) so it is a no go.

I guess it apply here as well.

@kingu_platypus_gidora Yes, I think I heard something similar here. I guess we will have to make do with the tools available. Just imagine what would happen if mastodon would become equally popular in say... China, India or Russia. Or all three... 😨
