SAFEpress has moved, if you still want to follow me please follow mastodon.technology/@happybein and unfollow me here so I don't keep pestering you!

Sorry this is a manual process, but the move process isn't working between these accounts.

I'll be repeating this toot, so if you see it please unfollow here, and follow the new account if you want.

I've settled on 'peek' for recording my app demo to GIF. The result will be posted!

Thanks for all suggestions, I tried a few, but peek wins on doing the job I wanted and no messing.

byzanz plus several user created scripts also seems good, but messing!

There's a good list of options here: askubuntu.com/questions/107726

I've just stumbled across #LowLevelAcademy and #lowlvl.org.😍
They provide free courses for low-level programming in #Rust, which you can do entirely in the browser. How cool is that!?
It is mainly focused on #networking. Their first #course is already available and they seem to plan a lot more.🎉

Check it out here:

Low-Level Academy has been founded by Nikita and Andrey Baksalyar:

Is there a recommended way to get support from mastodon.

I'm trying to move accounts from mastodon.cloud, have set up an alias on the destination mastodon.technology, but when I activate the transfer, mastodon.cloud says that the destination account "is not back-referencing this account". But it is!

I tried PM to both admins but understandably no response yet.

Any suggestions for creating an animated terminal demo of my app, an an animated dashboard like htop (I'm using tui-rs)? I want to create a which shows the in action.

I'm starting with , but haven't done this before so any suggestions which I can use on would be helpful.

ashfurrow@mastodon.technology

Apologies is this is not the way to get support, in which case feel free to re-direct me.

I'm trying to migrate SAFEpress@mastodon.cloud to happybeing@mastodon.technology and have set up an alias in the latter, but when I try to redirect from SAFEpress@mastodon.cloud it says that happybeing@mastodon.technology "is not back-referencing this account".

Thanks

I understand that #BorisJohnson's cunning Cummings plan today is to shout "give us all the fish" several times - very loudly - and then go hide in a fridge. #Brexit #ukpol

Many ways to learn :
- read a users.rust-lang.org/ discussion in a coffee break, and...
- try the playground: play.rust-lang.org/
- work through the book
- examine the code of apps that interest you
- add a feature to one
- make something simple and then add to it
etc

I recommend all of these.

If we're not clever enough to recognise the problems which the rules for big business create, and to devise rules which correct this, then we're not clever enough to survive as a yet either.

At least not one which delivers the values innate in most humans, but one which creates pain and destruction for ourselves and life in general.

Brownian motion used to generate electricity using graphene!

"The idea of harvesting energy from graphene is controversial because it refutes physicist Richard ’s well-known assertion that the thermal motion of atoms, known as Brownian motion, cannot do work. Thibado’s team found that at room temperature the thermal motion of does in fact induce an alternating current (AC) in a circuit, an achievement thought to be impossible." news.uark.edu/articles/54830/p

"This is news hyperinflation. Journalists are wandering around with wheelbarrows full of news but it's all worthless because it now costs one million news to buy a loaf of bread." - mobile.twitter.com/_RichardHal

A wad of truth in this.

It's not so much a news glut though, as a glut of attention seeking, which news organisations have been repurposed for.

There's less and less news and journalism, so we have to pan for it in them thar hills.

That 5,000 users paid £22 to switch to a monochrome icon set in one week, says a lot about Apple and it's user base.

That the creator thought £22 for an icon set like this is also interesting, and another reflection on the prison runs, and people buy into.

Einstein still rocks. Even more amazing if you read his book on survival and generally relativity and realise that it all flows from a few simple equations (though I could never follow the maths).

This week I discovered that the son of the teacher (recently deceased) that loaned me that book has kept it as a momento - and he sent me photos! Decades later I still remember the pages and my trying to grasp 's thinking.

Here's the latest testament to his insight:

#Trump taken to hospital with what he dismissed as the flu.

Another feature added, more bugs to chase, but a slight tweak first. I had to tweak the tui-rs gauge widget slightly to allow bars that fit on a single line.

The Safe Network vault dashboard now shows stats for the chunk store:

Hilarious and moving doc about the great just now.

Lovely to remember all the laughs he gave me and to learn a bit more about what made him and who he was. Such a lovely, creative spirit, his screen presence was disarming and I think made people feel like they were in the room with him.

A matter at forgetting himself and helping us forget ourselves, to be together. Thanks Robin.
