Got certified as a PMP yesterday.

Very mixed feelings. Relieved that it is out of the way, and yet I also feel complicit in perpetuating a scam.

Passing the PMP has nothing to do with a good, or even competent, project manager. It simply shows you have the ability to pass a ridiculously pedantic test; nothing more, nothing less.

I feel sorry for people that hire resources based on having/not having a PMP. It betrays your cluelessness regarding project management.

The more I study for my upcoming PMP cert exam, the more I realize the whole thing is a money extraction scam.

I think I spy Rey's failure at the cave.

A frighteningly accurate portrayal of how victims are blamed for the actual perpetrators of the crime. Pretty spot on.

Nintendo of America:

"Sorry, everyone, but we actually have no real idea the value our retro-console had, nor any real concept of the strength of the NES legacy, thus we are no longer going to produce this thing that has had MASSIVE demand for months on end in order to better enable scalpers to profit off of the unlucky." /s

It galls me no end that I allow typos fly in my toots.

Shaking my head at myself. "T" and "S" aren't even close to one another. Lord.

I do so thoroughly enjoy the final Vader scene in Rogue One. I think the thing that clinches it for me is the face on the first rebel trooper that realizes what's in front of him, before starting to fire.

He knows it's over, and all he can do it buy time. Sets the tone for the whole sequence.

I am a moderator on a what might be called a retro gaming site. It can be very dramatic at times, given the kinds of dollars being thrown around for certain games.

It's also a bit of a petri dish whereupon I get to see if I can steer member behavior back into sane territory when things get dicey.

It's shockingly easy to bring people back to earth when a person is dealt with logically, and without anger.

If I were requested to leave a flight that I
A) Paid for
B) Had been seated for and
C) the request was the result of
D) the flight being oversold and
C) for the benefit of an airline employee . . .

I would more than likely be categorized as disruptive and belligerent as well.

Oh, and police officers need to remember that escalating a situation is considered poor police work. This fact appears to be loosing focus as our police forces militarize to "protect" us.

I've been using a private VPN for over a year now, but I am curious about other vendors.

Any other lifetime subscriptions out there that you are using that are stable/performant/NOT shady/etc?

I sincerely hope Thor Ragnarok is as fun as the preview makes it seem. Great sense of humor, and Planet Hulk style Hulk just looks fabulous.

Fingers crossed.

So, if ISPs can sell our history, that means they de facto own it.

If ISPs own it, how does that play into government being able to request/access said history w/o a warrant?

This may be the actual goal of the legislation; unfettered LEGAL access to the entirety of US Citizenry's web usage.

Thoughts? ( @leo )

My company is extremely proud of its use of Agile and SCRUM terminology, and de facto waterfall processes.

Is anyone in PDX interested in hiring an actual SCRUM master to do the real thing?

Total geek problem. Having to wait for a new coin battery cradle to arrive in order to get my 4-slot Neo Geo board back up and running.

Passing time shopping for Sanwa sticks instead of playing.

I Mastodon the resource hog I think it is, or is my machine just old? I've had this open all day, and things are beginning to crawl a bit.

Any objective opinions on STEM programs for Stanford vs Cal? Can't loose, either one? One head and shoulders above the other?

Something fun to contrast against another, small death of individual freedoms in the United States.

Mark Hamill does the BEST Harrison Ford impression ever, in this "Bad Lip Reading" Star Wars montage.

Was given a delivery window of 12:00 - 6:00 PM for some furniture today. I think delivery may be being managed by Comcast.

I wonder what kind of numbers it will take to hit a critical mass on Mastodon.
