btw, there is a *lovely* little service out there if you're looking to host a basic website:
it's a geocities reboot that allows you to host static html/css/js files and images with 1GB storage for free.
multiple sites, custom url & other features are $5 a month.
it's sweet and easy and i think it's the bees knees.
- Are you sure it's here? It's only robots around
The curtain opened, and the play started
"Ah! To grow a beard, but for the metal of my face! Feel my steel limbs and tell me henceforth: robot!"
- It's a robot only cast?
- Looks like it
- You said it got good reviews?
A robot turned to us
- Humans don't watch plays. Too busy fishing. They send us instead. So we might as well make robot plays
- But the reviews?
- Well, humans don't write newspapers anymore...
I had one of those weeks that's so awesome that developing a sniffle at the end of it seems practically fair.
Only problem is I just checked, and next week starts tomorrow. Why the heck did someone schedule it like that?
Time for tea and rest.
@kween one of the many reasons i encourage people to stay away from facebook:
There are no atheists in foxholes. There are no ballerinas in foxholes. There are surprisingly few foxes in foxholes. One time I caught a leprechaun in a foxhole...
My wife just sent me this:
Why can't you go fishing with Skrillex?
He keeps dropping the bass...
"ejecting" USB drives implies something far cooler than it is
After pressing that button the drive should shoot out of the computer with tiny rockets and then land on a little parachute
"Ghost" likewise has been similar in form and meaning for most of its history, but it has a surprise origin!
It's from ME "gost, gast", from OE "gäst" (which had the additional meanings of "breath" and "existence"), from Proto-Germanic *gastaz (back to just "ghost, spirit"), from PIE *ǵʰeyzd-, *ǵʰizd-, *ǵʰeysd-, *ǵʰisd-.
But the PIE root doesn't mean "ghost" - it means "anger" or "agitation". The original PIE ghosts were disturbances (in the air? in the natural order?) - and angry ones.
Ugh. Almost all links in my pre-2.0.0 toots are dead. Hashtags, mentions and regular web-links are degraded to plaintext.
Only exception (I can find) is the mentions shown when a content warning is used and the content hidden - they still work fine.
It's obviously something I've fucked up in my database, but I have no idea how to debug this.
I like to mv -it mv -it
ive been using the term 'mastodon my _____' to describe starting fresh and reevaluating my relationship with a task so i do it mindfully and nonpunishingly
Why do they even call him Chewbacca
How did he tell them he had a name he can't say
