If you know what a modem sounds like, it may be time to schedule that colonoscopy and/or mammogram.

Is this the real wifi?
Or is this just 802.11b
Caught in a LANslide
No escape from this latency

This is one of my favourite educational images so I’m going to share it just because. #languages #world

Yesterday I told my son I would start eating keto with him, so tonight I pulled out one of many ridiculous single-purpose kitchen devices we somehow own, so I can make some (yummmmm) deviled eggs.

The Belt of Venus is a natural occurring phenomenon that presents itself on the opposite side of the horizon of the fully set sun. The upper pink and lower dark blue band ay the horizon happens as the Earth's shadow is cast onto our atmosphere from the sun which is now fully set and lasts through out civil-twilight.

Also, it just looks so #%$&ing pretty.

@marypcbuk @Kclemson @bookstodon seriously. I find a good series, devour it, and then sit in a reading funk for a couple years wishing for another Vorkosigan or Murderbot.

This weekend I watched the first 6 episodes of Andor… enough to be reminded once again that there’s a reason I don’t watch much (any?) TV :-(

Yes, it’s well written and acted and layered and I love the broader context and stories and messages… but still. Not for me.

Yogurt is just ice cream with virtue. Tasty, delicious virtue.

There’s this really adorable flower shop in the town I live in, but when I’m in town I keep forgetting it’s there, because the entrance is somewhat hidden behind some tall evergreens… I can’t see the florist for the trees.

It’s nice to see modern technology show up in popular media… for example, the cult classic movie Sneakers from 1992 includes a great example of two actor authentication.

As a blind individual, I have to say that #Caturday on #Mastodon is far far more enjoyable then at #Twitter, where the vast majority of cat photos are not described.

It is also been fascinating for me to hear descriptions written by those who sent the image, immediately followed by Apple image recognition’s attempts to describe the same image. Only rarely does that add anything to the ALT, & often directly contradicts it.

There is no auto magical solution to image description. It is something best done by a human, for only that human can explain the “why” of the image: the reason that image was chosen to speak so eloquently without words for those who can see it. ALT allows you to provide those words.
