This instance doesn't seem to be very stable anymore. :( Just as an FYI, my primary account is now @JonYoder
Heat wave in Ohio. My family and I didn't melt and the house didn't burst into flame. I'd call that a #WIN.
As a parent, what do you find yourself saying to your children that sounds utterly ridiculous? I'll go first.
"Don't hit me with that frozen waffle!"
Prior to working in IT professionally, I thought quite a few IT pros would actually care about #privacy, #surveillance, and freedom of speech. So far, I haven't met even ONE in regular life that does besides me. I consider that disturbing and sad.
I made another puppet! Meet Drake!
I'm not sure if I can face the news today. I've had to shut some tabs. Maybe there have always been horrors and people didn't see or hear of them.
Turning off the news is not enough. Each voice of peace and love matters. In my very small way, I'm off to hug my children, smile at strangers, and encourage my students to do good wherever they can.
Made it home before the rain. Time in the saddle: 7:07:51 Miles cycled: 113. #cycling
Also, for most things I think you’d find me surprisingly staunchly capitalist. But for healthcare, I’m Fidel goddamn Castro. Insurance companies are Satan. Paying for this relatively very minor thing is painful enough and I have comparatively great coverage. I can’t imagine how badly this would suck if it was out of pocket.
So I have one kiddo graduating into middle school, another graduating into high school, and another graduating into university. We are going to be hearing a ton of speeches today....
....but then off to the local brewpub to celebrate with food and just us family.
Pretty proud of my gang!!
Went out dancing tonight for the first time since winter. By now it is outdoor dance event season. The venue was a beer garden near Görlitzer Park. My movements felt awkwardly unsure and out of balance at first, but many friendly people around and pretty lighting from strings of colorful lightbulbs hung up in a tree and great tunes made me loosen up eventually and go with the flow. It turned out to be a great night out 🙃 🎷 🥁 💃 🕺
Me: Hey, did you know you could put a comment there by typing...
Coworker: OMG WOULD YOU KNOCK IT OFF?
My family and I have been fighting a losing battle against ants in the new apartment. Considering that my wife and I haven't received our first paychecks from our new jobs just yet, exterminator isn't an option. Suggestions on how to end this, anyone?
New job at company which has full-on drunk the Microsoft Kool-Aid. I mentioned preferring LibreOffice and a coworker mentioned that they don't use it because M$ doesn't support it. SMH
Rode about 5.6 miles (9.1km) on my bike today and didn't drop from exhaustion when I finished. In fact, I felt good. I feel like I'm in better shape than I've ever been. #WIN
Feeling better as of yesterday. Actually, I felt yesterday like Tuesday had never even happened. I'd call that a win.
Spent this morning in the ER with problems with vertigo. Evil stuff. Missed my second day at my new job because of it, too. #fail
Some advice
After much waiting, my family and I are *finally* back online. The move went really well and while still living out of boxes to some degree, we're settling in. #WIN
