A friend asked for recommendations of "literary" SF novels. I always try to boost indie books when I can, but I'm stumped on this one. I can't think of a single book that fits the bill that is strong enough to recommend to a professor of Eng. Lit. :-(
@Jefferson Dhalgren fits the bill, or do you only want indie works?
@Jefferson It's not indie, more like an oldie but I'd suggest Stand on Zanzibar by John Brunner. It also deals with themes very relevant to current times. Remarkably so, given it was published in '68.
@Jefferson You don't think Quarter Share is literary enough? It's almost entirely about internal struggle, self-doubt, and aspirations.
@Jefferson You'd have to find out exactly what they mean by "literary," wouldn't you? Make them be specific.
