I love 98 things about #Mastodon. One love for which I haven't expressed appreciation until now is that I love that accounts don't follow me solely on the basis that their bots have found in my toot or awoo a keyword which happens to be something I hate.
e.g. "I hate s0cm3d14 accounts that follow strictly for brand-building without reading my feed first." @SocMedBrandBuild is now following you.
@mirabilis And when there's disagreement with ideas, the disagreement is respectful with facts and references! One of the best ways to open eyes and minds and hearts!
@mirabilis I love that admins who are open to growing their numbers are easy to find. Today I had the hot idea of joining the instances of the admins who are connecting with me.
And 25 yrs ago I wasn't a mom, so of course now I am unamused by the "all hackers are male, under 25, and wear hoodies and Mom needs help getting onto Facebook or building her Pinterest" stereotypes. I'm the only one who buys 2600 magazine in my house!! (Disclaimer: 25 years ago I was helping my mom onto the internet)
@ChristinaO Exactly. I hope Mastodon will be able to maintain this culture.
I read somewhere that having local admins on each instance, might be the key to it all. And maybe it is!
Are there other elements that have contributed? Does niceness beget more niceness?
I don't know, but I'm grateful for what we have here.
