Hrm … canonical usernames are only unique to the Mastadon instance you’re currently on. This is going to be a huge bag of hurt in terms of impersonation, parody, and username squatting.
@AmelieRitter So do you need to authenticate on separate instances? And what prevents hijacking? What happens when someone starts tooting as me on a different instance?
